Dub Qalandar

Dub Qalandar is a spectacular inter-cultural multi art form which has been specially created as a key signature commission to close the Birmingham Weekender festival. An ensemble of master musicians, vocalists, poets and dancers come together in a spiritually uplifting tapestry which pays tribute to Birmingham’s rich cultural diversity.

Line-up includes the sensational reggae band Legend, stellar folk musicians from the AK Folk Group, the legendary voice of Surj Sahota, sublime roots empress Yaz Alexander, celestial rising Qawwali singer Azar Hussain, the mesmerizing Heer of Sanyogita Kumari, Rasta reasoning dub poet Moqapi Selassie, words of wisdom of the wondering mystic Vimal Kumar, ritual drummers led by Nicky Reed, the extraordinary tabla maestro Mohinder Singh and the spirit of the dance of Sandra Golding and Sonia Sabri.
