Every Cook Can Govern – Film screening and Director Introduction

Friday 11 November, 7.30pm

Join us at Brixton Library for a film showing of Every Cook Can Govern, introduced by the film’s Director.

Documenting the life, impact & works of C.L.R. James, this is the first feature length documentary to explore the life, writings and politics of the great Trinidadian born revolutionary who died in Brixton in 1989. The film interweaves exclusive, never-before-seen footage of C.L.R. James with unique testimony from those he knew and the world’s most eminent scholars of James’ life, works and politics. The result is an epic feature-length documentary which grapples with issues from colonialism to cricket, from slavery to Shakespeare, from Marxism to the movies and from reading to revolution.
