Chicago-based artist Theaster Gates engages with histories of spirituality, Black music, craft and modernism in two clay interventions.
Gates uses his craft skills as a potter to communicate with makers across time and between cultures. This display includes a new vessel produced in response to American Studio Potter Peter Voulkos and a vitrine comprised of objects made at his temporary workshop at the Istanbul Biennale.
