Prepare to be mesmerised as the Leicester Symphony Orchestra presents a stunning performance featuring the celebrated young violinist Braimah Kanneh-Mason. This concert brings together three iconic pieces that have captured the hearts of classical music lovers for generations.

 

Starting with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, a masterpiece of romantic violin playing, Braimah Kanneh-Mason will bring his virtuosity and emotion to this celebrated piece. Known for its soaring melodies and technical brilliance, Mendelssohn’s concerto remains a favourite in the violin repertoire.

Next, the orchestra will perform Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro a lively and spirited piece that sets the tone for one of opera’s most beloved works. Mozart’s gift for melody and wit shines through in this orchestral introduction, showcasing his impeccable ability to bring characters to life with sound.

The concert concludes with Schumann’s Symphony No. 4, a dynamic and passionate symphony that marks a turning point in Schumann’s compositional career. With its dramatic contrasts and lyrical themes, it’s a fitting end to an afternoon of unforgettable music.

Braimah Kanneh-Mason is a rising star in the classical music world. Known for his expressive performances and exceptional technique, Braimah is a member of the renowned Kanneh-Mason family, who are celebrated for their musical talents. Having performed at prestigious venues such as the BBC Proms and Wigmore Hall, Braimah continues to inspire audiences worldwide with his passion for music and dedication to diversity in the arts.

He is currently studying at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and is committed to fostering new opportunities for young musicians. Braimah’s presence on stage is not only a display of virtuosity but also a celebration of his belief in the transformative power of music.

The workshop runs from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, providing an intimate opportunity to engage with the artist before the performance.
