Arlo Parks is an 20 year old poet/singer from London. In her words she spent most of school feeling like that black kid who couldn’t dance for shit, listening to too much emo music and crushing on some girl in her Spanish class. Her songs are confessional and tender, mainly inspired by Portishead and Earl Sweatshirt.
What a great night, with great support acts. Amazing sound throughout the evening and Arlo was the cherry the cake.
It felt like a personal set with Arlo fully engaged and grateful for the adoration of her fans. It was good to hear songwriting that was heartfelt – with a lot of vulnerability conveyed. It will be interesting to see how Arlo’s career develops in the next few years. I’m looking forward to seeing the great artist come to the fore.
