Bring Black History Month to life through Chats with historians!
From 3th October to 21th October
History doesn’t need to stay in the past – this Black History Month, bring history to life through live Chats with historians with I’m History, Get me out of here! Running from 3 October to 21 October 2022.
Empower your students to revisit the history of Britain and gain a deeper understanding of Black British history, going beyond narratives around slavery.
Students can connect with historians championing lesser-known Black British figures throughout history: from emperor Septimius Severus of Roman Britain, to journalist Claudia Jones in the 20th century.
Students can ask the questions that are important to them and gain a deeper understanding of Black British history, supporting SMSC development.
“The amount of knowledge that the experts had surpassed our expectations and it was shared in a child-friendly way.” – Teacher
I’m History all takes place online through text-based Chats. No audio or video is needed – just a browser with an internet connection. The activity is flexible – you book 40-minute live Chats at a time that suits your timetable.
Places are funded for schools in the The Black History Month Zone thanks to funding from UKRI.
