Illuminating Conversations: Preparing Girls & Women of Color to be Leaders

Friday 10 December 2021

Words and stories are powerful ways to inspire young people to consider ways they can be leaders in their families, communities and world.

Written by Dr. Artika Tyner, Founder and Executive Director of Planting People Growing Justice – a 2020 Mary’s Pence grantee – Justice Makes a Difference is a children’s book that is an inspiring story for all ages.

Through the perspective of a Black girl we come to know people of color who have paved the way for justice, and are reminded of the special gifts we each have to contribute to that legacy.

Join the conversation with Dr. Tyner about her work to help people–particularly women of color–develop their innate leadership and activism skills as they strive to be a part of the response to living in healthier and more vibrant communities.
