After periods of employment in a law centre and in local government, Ayo joined the Crown Prosecution Service in 2002 where he has held a variety of roles – casework lawyer, temporary legal manager/Unit Head, and legal development trainer.
Increased specialism in fraud prosecutions led to secondments abroad, and Ayo completed postings for the CPS as Cybercrime Criminal Justice Advisor in Ghana, Asset Recovery Advisor in Jamaica, Criminal Justice Advisor in Trinidad and Tobago, and interim Liaison Prosecutor in Turkey.
All overseas deployments involved the provision of advice on Mutual Legal Assistance, together with operational support to law enforcement and other government departments in sensitive and complex areas of work – terrorism investigations, extraditions, and serious and organised crime.
