The Faction: Medea

The Faction have reimagined and revitalised two of the solo shows from their repertoire in specially created short films commissioned by The Lowry and shot in Salford.

Available to watch FREE here on this page from Friday, 16 April.

Emily Juniper’s version of Medea performed by Anna-Maria Nabirye is transformed into a blistering dialogue between Medea and her singing wedding dress, emerging as an emancipatory call and expression of resistance.

Directed by Rachel Valentine Smith with cinematography by Bani Mendy and production design by Holly Pigott. The film is produced by Mark Leipacher and Rachel Pryce for The Faction.

Commissioned by The Lowry.

“An important event… exposes the works of greater writers and allows new writing talent to link them to the 21st century world. The storytelling is clearly driven by passion and The Faction’s eye for detail makes this event something you have to catch.” – A Younger Theatre.

“A fierce riff on Euripides’ Medea by Emily Juniper who completely reshapes the narrative to create something fascinatingly different.” – BroadwayWorld.
