UWL celebrates BHM by launching our MA in Global Black Studies. You will be Edutained by an impressive array of speakers.

 

UWL celebrates BHM by launching our MA in Global Black Studies, Decolonisation and Social Justice. The event will be hosted by Prof William ‘Lez’ Henry, from the School of Human and Social Sciences and will feature contributions from some of the leading scholars, activists, and TV personalities from the UK and beyond. That is why we are so thrilled to open BHM at UWL in this way, because the fact that these luminaries in their respected fields, are all fully in favour of what we are doing at UWL to create more inclusive and relevant degrees, are welcomed and truly humbling endorsements.

You will be Edutained by; Shaun Wallace, Barrister, Mastermind Winner, AKA ‘The Dark Destroyer’ on ITV’s The Chase; Henry Bonsu, international journalist, broadcaster, Modern Linguist and conference host; Prof Gus John one of the leading contemporary thinkers; Nairobi Thompson, writer/performance poet/event host; Levi Tafari, writer, dub poet and social activist; Esther Onola Ademosu, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Black Knowledge Society (TBS); Connie Bell, Creative Director and Cultural Producer, Decolonising the Archive (DTA); Dr Elizabeth Williams, historian and a scholar and activist, Goldsmiths, University of London; Prof Tamari Kitossa, a scholar/activist who teaches sociology at Brock University Alberta, Canada. Prof Raymond Simangaliso Khumalo, Director of the Centre for Constructive Theology, Academic Leader (HOD) Theology and Ethics Cluster, School of Religion, Philosophy and Classics, University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.
