Since 2018, the Caribbean and African Health Network has celebrated the contribution that our Windrush generation and their descendants have made to life in the UK.
In June 2018 and 2019, we congregated in Alexandra Park and celebrated National Windrush Day with entertainment, speeches, Windrush history and other intergenerational learning from our young peopleand elders.
The event started with a health walk after Civic welcome and greetings. There were a variety of activities that enriched participants with information and connected people to each other, and with our partners across health, policing, housing, fostering agencies and so on.
This year we are holding the celebrations on an online platform due to the pandemic. You will be able to watch and engage with us from your front room because we have a three hour programme of activities and information for you to enjoy.
It will be interactive and even allow you to win prizes through participation in the Windrush Quiz. Other activities include
Windrush & Memorabillia | Speeches
Interactive Health Walk & Exercise
Windrush Stories
Windrush Era Cooking
Live Dance Performances
Poetry | Singing
Windrush Competition Quiz & prizes
