A night of joyous open remembrance and reflection of Afro-Brazillian music and culture with live music from Dendê Nation and special guests, Baque Luar!
What to expect
Noite Dos Tambores No Leste translates as Night of the Drums in the East. Come and join us for a celebratory gathering night of music reflecting on some major influences inside Afro-Brazilian movements of Maracatu’s and Samba-Reggae.
Please feel free to bring any pictures, poetry or text of people that you wish to remember. Although this revolves around Brazil, it is open to all.
All profits from the admission fee and any donations will go towards two social projects in Brazil: Maracatu Nação Leão Coroado (Olinda) and Projeto Social Rum Alagbê (Salvador).
About Dendê Nation

About Baque Luar
Baque Luar are a London-based collective of female vocalists and percussionists, united by their love of Brazilian and Afro-Brazilian roots music. Drawing inspiration from the rich soundscapes and traditions of maracatu, coco, bumba meu boi, congado, and ciranda, as well as sacred rhythms of Brazilian candomblé, Baque Luar combine original multi-vocal compositions and arrangements with powerful percussive grooves.
