Here To Stay Panel Discussion

Saturday 23 October 2021

A panel discussion between photographer Inès Elsa Dalal and participants of Here To Stay project.

Join us for a panel discussion between documentary photographer Inès Elsa Dalal and participants of the photographic portrait series Here To Stay. This project comprises oral histories recordings and interview transcripts to contextualise each portrait, documenting the personal and professional narratives of Black healthcare personnel who are the bloodline and backbone of the NHS. Initially commissioned in 2018 to celebrate 70 years since the arrival of the Windrush Generation, which unsurprisingly coincides with the birth of the NHS. Since then, Here To Stay has toured across London and the Midlands, including an iteration at Wolverhampton Art Gallery (August 2020 – January 2021).

The discussion will explore topics present in the oral history interviews, including but not limited to: Windrush, migration, life in the UK and working in the NHS both before and during the ongoing pandemic.

This event is part of Black History Month.
