BFI African Odysseys present a preview of The Hard Stop + Q&A with director George Amponsah, co-writer/producer Dionne Walker, Stafford Scott, co-founder Broadwater Farm Defence Campaign, and Marcus Knox and Kurtis Henville at BFI Southbank 11th July 2016!
In 2011 Mark Duggan was killed by armed police in London, sparking a riot that spiralled into a week of the worst civil unrest in modern British history. This summer marks five years years since the “London riots” plagued headlines around the world. The Hard Stop shares the story of Mark Duggan, through the accounts of his two best friends.
Director George Amponsah and co-writer Dionne Walker were determined to look beyond the headlines, and in their intimate portrait of Duggan’s childhood friends Marcus Knox and Kurtis Henville they pose deep questions about class, race and policing.
