Dr Christian O’Connell, Lecturer in American History at the University of Gloucestershire, performing musician and author of Blues, How Do You Do? Paul Oliver and the Transatlantic Story of the Blues (2015), will be presenting a musical documentary called ‘The Discovery of the Blues’. He will be performing songs, talking about how the blues was’re-discovered’ during the 1950s and 1960s, and the way this blurred the lines between myth and reality, and between folk and popular culture.
