Marcia Reid Fotheringham – It’s Black History Month, so what?

Marcia is a strong advocate of racial equity and equality principles. In this talk she will cover the importance of Black History Month.

 

Marcia Reid Fotheringham JP, DL, was born in London and moved to the USA as a child, where she was raised and educated. In 1997 Marcia moved to Cumbria, where she worked as an NHS psychologist and family therapist for 10 years. And in 2001, Marcia became a Justice of the Peace. As a magistrate, Marcia sat in the Adult Courts (crime) and Family Court Panels. From 2019 – 20, Marcia became the first black High Sheriff of Cumbria.

Marcia is a strong advocate of racial equity and equality principles and is the Co-chair of the Cumbria Race Equality Network.

In this talk she will cover the importance of Black History Month, the importance of equity, and share her experiences of being a black woman who has lived on both sides of the Atlantic.
