Intercultural Youth Scotland are pleased to announce an upcoming collaboration with Museums Galleries Scotland on the Scottish Government’s national consultation on Empire, Slavery and Scotland’s Museums (ESSM).
This high-profile project will involve Black people and People of Colour (BPoC) young people in the design, development and implementation of a consultation with BPoC communities across Scotland, which looks at how the story of Scotland’s involvement in the British Empire, colonialism, and transatlantic slavery should be told using museum collections. We are looking for individuals from BPoC communities, charities and advocacy organisations to take part in our focus groups. We want our research to reflect the diversity of BPoC community groups across Scotland and prioritise the voices of those who are still impacted by legacies of empire and slavery today. This is why we are asking to draw upon the wealth of experience and expertise in your community in helping shape the future of Scottish culture.
- Focus groups will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Focus groups will take place online, over Zoom.
- Groups will consist of a maximum of 12 participants and 2 facilitators.
