Women, Activism and the Pandemic: Where are we now?

Tuesday 9 November 2021

Hosted by Activate, this event will explore women and activism today.

The pandemic has challenged campaigners and activists to adapt our approaches. We will reflect on essential learning and tips from and for campaigners working to transform local communities and national policy. We’ll also cover the changing landscape and what this means for activism.

So whether you’re just getting started, honing your skills as a future Greta Thunberg or gearing up to get out there and level up, come and hear our panelists and join a conversation about effective change-making.

Our panel are:

  • Kajal Odedra, director of Change.org
  • Joeli Brearley, founder of Pregnant then Screwed
  • Jamie Klinger, co-founder Reclaim These Streets
  • Marie Williamson, collective leader of Fanny Riot, and Activate-funded activist
  • Sophie Walker, former leader of the Women’s Equality Party and co-director of Activate who will be chairing the event

The session will include a Q&A with our virtual audience.

Who’s this event for?

This event is for women of all ages and experiences interested or involved in activism, campaigns, community development, local and national change.

Keeping the conversation going

We will be holding a separate drop in session the week following the event for people to pick up the conversation and exchange experiences and tips. Please register for this event to be sent details.

This event is the first of a series discussing aspects of activism, from geographical to intersectional experiences and perspectives.
