A special Windrush-themed craft session will take place at Hale End Library on Wednesday, 25th June 2025, offering children a creative and engaging way to learn about a key moment in British history.
Designed for ages 5 and up, this hands-on activity invites young participants to build their own version of the Empire Windrush using coloured card, paper, and other fun materials.
Through crafting, children will have the chance to explore the story of the Windrush generation—those who arrived from the Caribbean to help rebuild Britain after the Second World War. The session aims to spark conversations about migration, identity, and belonging in a way that is accessible, imaginative, and fun.
The craft session runs from 4:00 to 5:00 PM and is free to attend. While booking is recommended to guarantee a space, walk-ins will be welcomed where possible. All children must be accompanied by an adult who can offer support during the activity.
This event is not only an opportunity for children to get creative, but also a meaningful way for families to come together and reflect on the cultural richness and resilience of the Windrush generation. By crafting their own Windrush ships, young participants connect with the past in a tactile, memorable way—while celebrating community and shared heritage.
