ICSN ‘Iri-Ji’ New Yam Festival

THE IGBO Cultural and Support Network (ICSN) is hosting London’s largest, annual Iri-Ji New Yam festival in the UK on Saturday October 14th, 2017.  The event promises to be an amazing cultural experience with performances by respected African highlife artist, Wilson Nwanne, ICSN dance troupe- Egwu Oganiru, a live band, masquerade, yam auction, dancing and Afrobeats brought to you by some of the best Afrobeats DJs in the city. ICSN will also be raising money on the night for an igbo language tool which aims at expanding their classroom based Igbo language school across the UK and Europe.

The ‘Iri-Ji’ or ‘New-Yam’ Festival is an annual celebration undertaken by members of the Igbo community to celebrate the harvest of the first, and most important crop following the rainy season. The diaspora continue to celebrate this significance of the new yam harvest around the world.All attendees are encouraged to wear African native and traditional attire for what is expected to be a fantastic opportunity to experience a celebration of the rich Igbo culture in London.
