Ancient African Civilisations and Empires – first in a series of free workshops on Black history

Black History is World History educational sessions @ Central Library every Wednesday Evening in October for Adults. 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th October 5.30pm -7.30pm (MCC commission)

Come along to a series of free workshops which will take you on a whirlwind exploration of black history through the ages. Manchester’s own Black History Educator Linford Sweeney will deliver each session with his unique interactive and discussion-based workshop style in Central Library’s search room – after hours. Each workshop will focus on a particular time period starting from Ancient Africa through to the Windrush Generation and UK Civil Rights. The workshop will provide a good overview of each period with lots of further reading to begin your own Black History journey. Participants can choose to attend any of the sessions as a standalone workshop on that period or can book onto all four.

This session looks at Ancient African Civilisations and Empires.

The other sessions are:

13th October – Trade, Enslavement, and Resistance.

20th October – Black British History to 1945.

27th October – The Windrush Generation and UK Civil Rights.
