Bengal to Brick Lane, Part of Banglaverse Film Festival

Saturday 18 September 2021

Bengal to Brick Lane celebrates the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh with live music and film from Grand Union Orchestra.

Based in east London, Grand Union has been bringing Bengal to Bethnal Green for more than two decades. They have worked with local artists, managed projects with young people and the Bengali community, and continue to enchant audiences across the globe.

For one night only, Bengal to Brick Lane will be coming to the Brady Arts Centre to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh. It features popular local Bengali artists in collaboration with Grand Union musicians from other musical traditions worldwide and is directed by internationally celebrated tabla maestro Yousuf Ali Khan.

This will be a sonorous fusion of traditional Bengali songs, songs of independence, and influences from wider cultures and styles to reflect the variety of music in London’s East End.
