Fri 12 October 2018 08:30 – 10:00

BAME in Property cordially invites you to our next event.

In celebration of Black History Month (BHM), we are delighted to hold an important event that explores some of the housing issues and opportunities faced by the Windrush generation when they first arrived in the UK from the 1940s and how any hurdles may have resulted in diversity issues today.

We will be joined by a speaker from the Windrush generation who will share their experiences of housing struggles, discrimination, as well as other barriers and opportunities to services when they first arrived here.

A speaker from the present day will also be on the panel to share their thoughts on present-day housing issues and prospects affecting Black and other ethnic minority communities.

The Windrush generation may have faced some challenges but their culture and communities have resulted in the celebration of music, art and societal changes, and these will be celebrated throughout the event.

There will be an opportunity for members of the audience to participate in the discussion by exploring the future of housing for minority communities, and how the issues from the past can impact future generations.

Thank you, Knight Frank, for hosting and sponsoring this event.

We hope you can join us for what will be an engaging and insightful panel discussion.

.

We are delighted to confirm our first speaker with more to be announced in the coming weeks. Watch this space for the exciting announcement.

Patrick Vernon OBE, Windrush campaigner and social commentator
