A stunning look at African women’s tattoo and scarification stories.

 

Inspired by each other’s tattoo and scarification journeys, Jessica Horn and Laurence Sessou created their visual documentary project to explore the stories and aesthetics of other African women and examine how tattoo and scarification practices connect to histories of ritual, spiritual practice and emotion. TLF is proud to present the first curated look at Horn and Sessou’s ongoing initiative.
