NEW: Black History Course
When We Ruled: Thousands of Years of African Heritage

Tuesdays, 5 July – 2 August, 7.00pm-9.00pm

Led by leading Black historian Robin Walker, When We Ruled is a 5-week introductory course that will contextualise the broad history of the African Diaspora, from mediaeval to modern times.

You will learn about the visible monuments, manuscripts, and fine art that demonstrate a rich African heritage. From this historical evidence, you will further explore the histories of gold-rich civilisations in West Africa before the onset of slavery; a wider perspective of the Translantic Slave Trade and African resistance; Black women in history; and the rise of the Pan African Movement both here in London and internationally.

Course lecturers: Robin Walker, Danny Thompson, Dean Gregory
