Blazin Fiddles

Friday 19 November 2021

One of the world’s most prolific folk groups, Blazin’ Fiddles formed for a one-off tour of the Scottish Highlands in 1999 and are still raising roofs far and wide over two decades later.

Encompassing a rare selection of the fiddle’s diverse Highland and island voices, with ensemble and solo-led sets both backed by powerhouse guitar and piano, the Blazers pack all the power, passion and sensitivity of Scotland’s traditional music into a single show.

The group counts some of the leading players in contemporary folk among their alumni, and the current four-fiddle frontline comprises founder member, BBC broadcaster and all-round driving force of Scottish folk music Bruce MacGregor (Inverness), Shetlander Jenna Reid, Nairn’s Rua Macmillan, and Orkney’s Kristan Harvey, with accompaniment from Anna Massie and Angus Lyon.

Having seen out last year as BBC Scotland’s Hogmanay headliners, Blazin’ Fiddles promise to bring the authentic spirit of ceilidh and hootenanny to the Howard Assembly Room.
