Revolutions & Revelations: Life and Death Under Soviet Rule

Monday 1 May 2017, 14:00-15:30 – free, places must be reserved

Igort Tuveri in conversation with Paul Gravett
Italian graphic novelist Igort (Igor Tuveri) spent almost two years in Russia, the Ukraine and Siberia to research The Ukrainian Notebooks (2010) and The Russian Notebooks (2011), both now in English and subtitled Life and Death Under Soviet Rule. Igort unlocks the darkest of memories – from first-hand witnesses and survivors of Stalin’s government-sanctioned famine of 1932, to the life and death of journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya –finally giving these unheard victims a voice. “Drawings can reveal their humble, hidden lives and illuminate the shadowy areas which probably the written word cannot tell.” In conversation with Paul Gravett, author of Comics Art and curator.

Part of Writers of the World Unite festival, produced with Little Atoms and Waterstones Piccadilly. Full information and tickets here: writersoftheworldfest.co.uk
